Tesla Grünheide
A program for startups making battery cell manufacturing faster, better and more scalable.
About the challenge:
Tesla is expanding battery cell production at Gigafactory Berlin-Brandenburg to a planned annual capacity of 18 GWh. With investments of 350 million dollars announced over the past six months, Tesla is creating the conditions for one of the largest cell manufacturing operations in Europe.
That’s exactly why we’re launching the Cell Giga Challenge – a unique opportunity for startups to showcase their technologies in industrial cell manufacturing under real-world conditions.
Your opportunity:
Present your solution to Tesla’s experts. The best applications get the chance for in-depth technical discussions and a paid pilot project with the Cell team.
The Battery Cell Giga Challenge is aimed at startups with solutions for high-volume battery cell manufacturing.
We are especially interested in innovative solutions in the following areas:
• Materials
• Equipment
• Operations
• Automation
• Artificial Intelligence
Your application is your chance to present your solution to Tesla experts.
Reach the decision-makers: Your application is reviewed directly by the Tesla experts who drive cell manufacturing in Grünheide every day.
Prove your technology under real conditions: We are looking for solutions that measurably improve quality, speed, cost, safety, or scalability.
Secure a paid pilot: The strongest teams can move into a paid pilot project with the Cell team.
You’re a strong fit if:
Your technology solves a concrete problem in industrial cell manufacturing
You can explain the benefit clearly and simply
You have initial solid evidence (prototype, test data, proof of concept, pilot, or customers)
You’re ready to discuss your solution technically with experienced manufacturing experts
You see Tesla as a customer and cooperation partner
Keep your application short, concrete and fact-based. Above all, answer these three questions:
Five phases to presenting your solution to Tesla in Grünheide.
Submit your idea, the use case and your results so far.
We review every application against real manufacturing requirements.
If there’s a good fit, we talk about the technology and possible deployment scenarios.
Selected startups present to Tesla stakeholders.
The best solutions move into concrete cooperation and pilot projects.
In Grünheide, Tesla is building one of the most advanced cell manufacturing operations in Europe. You can be a part of it.
Application deadline: July 24, 2026
